Collins, John J. (1946)
Ír származású teológus. A dublini University College-on és a Harvard Universityn tanult. A Yale Egyetem teológiai karának professzora, a kritikai Ószövetség-kutatás és egzegézis tanára, a Society of Biblical Literature és a Catholic Biblical Association elnöke volt. Mintegy 300 tudományos művet publikált és szerkesztett, valamint számtalan tudományos népszerűsítő cikket és könyvet. A legismertebbek közülük:
